Germany dominates the classical music world when it comes to the sheer quality of its orchestras, according to an international panel of professional music critics. Five of the world’s greatest orchestras, as collectively ranked, are German, with the Berliner Philharmoniker leading the way as the world’s finest. The Leipzig Gewandhaus (4), Berlin Staatskapelle (6), Dresden Staatskapelle (8) and Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (10) ensure German orchestras are incredibly well represented in the line-up......
Indeed, Chailly tops the poll as the World’s Best Conductor. Chief Conductor of the Leipzig Gewandhaus since 2005, Chailly is also the Principal Conductor at La Scala until he takes up the post of Music Director there in 2017. Recently, Chailly was appointed the Lucerne Festival Orchestra’s next music director, effective from the start of the 2016 festival. This autumn, he tours Vienna, Paris, Birmingham and London with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in programmes of Mozart and Strauss. Their recording of Brahms’ Serenades last week won the ECHO Musikpreis, while their DVD of Mahler’s Ninth Symphony was shortlisted for a Gramophone Award. Chailly simply has the classical music world at his feet......
Sicher bieten beide Rankings wieder reichlich Diskussionsstoff!
